Twin Rivers boost for local groups

Applications are now open for the first round of the Twin Rivers community sponsorship program, and there is no better time to nominate your community projects and events.

The sponsorship program is supported by Peet Limited through its Twin Rivers Estate and supports the groups and volunteers who are making a significant contribution to the Australind community.

Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore said the sponsorship initiative is an important part of the project’s commitment to the local community.

“The Twin Rivers sponsorship program is open to local groups such as schools, volunteer associations, service agencies, sporting clubs or individuals, and can be used to help kick-start a project or event, or strengthen a group’s community activities,” said Mr Gore.

“I encourage local groups to apply, taking this opportunity to add to existing activities or perhaps get a new initiative off the ground,” he said.

Peet Limited is currently managing the development of a 126-lot residential estate at Twin Rivers in Australind on behalf of the Marist Brothers. The land is made up of 39 hectares located where the Brunswick and Collie Rivers meet and is behind Barnes Avenue in the heart of Australind – and more than two thirds is being preserved as natural bushland.

“Only 12 hectares are being developed for residential purposes, ensuring residents and locals can enjoy the superb natural environment,” said Mr Gore.

The first lots at Twin Rivers Estate were released earlier this year averaging 678sqm with an average price of $218,000. Some lots offer glimpses of the estuary and others have views to the Ferguson Valley. Most of the homesites have impressively wide frontages, are fully retained and include boundary fencing and front garden landscaping.

To complement the range of lots available at the estate, homebuyers can now choose from five unique house and land packages by some of Western Australia’s leading home builders with designs from Dale Alcock, Content Living, Plunkett Homes, Summit Homes and WA Country Builders.

Each house and land package showcases modern trends in home design and boasts affordable prices ranging from $402,000 to $485,100 (prices will vary according to lot selection and home specifications.)

Peet releases new house and land packages at Warner Lakes

National property group, Peet Limited, has released a dozen new house and land packages at Warner Lakes.

Starting from $332,900, the packages offer a range of lot sizes and home options to cater for a variety of lifestyles and budgets.

Buyers can select their new contemporary home at Warner Lakes’ huge display village – which is the Queensland Master Builders Association’s largest Display Village – showcasing 48 homes by the State’s leading builders.

Located 22 kilometres north of Brisbane, Warner Lakes offers families the opportunity to be part of a growing local community in Warner, which the Queensland Government estimates will double to almost 10,000 residents by 2025.

House prices in the suburb have increased by close to nine percent in the past 12 months to August 2008.

Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore said Warner Lakes started development in 2003 and continued to be popular among singles and families alike due to its convenient location to the city and the Sunshine Coast.

“More than half of the estate – some 700 lots – have now been sold at Warner Lakes, which is a great milestone for Peet’s growing development in Queensland,” Mr Gore said.

“Given Warner Lakes will eventually be home to more than 1,300 households, we are working hard to apply the highest standards to the estate and to amalgamate both natural and man-made environmental features to create a thriving, sustainable community.”

Peet Limited is investing more than $5 million into lake features and landscaping at Warner Lakes, which will include a 20-hectare park with picnic areas, playgrounds and sporting areas.

When complete, it will be a thriving, master-planned residential community offering inviting open spaces, quality homes and many other features that add up to an easier, more relaxed way of living.

Buyers purchasing land before the end of November, can take advantage of a free landscaping and fencing package worth up to $10,000. Peet is also offering $2,000 cash for buyers who complete their home and landscaping within the estate home design guidelines and specified timeframes.

Industry accolade for The Village at Wellard

More than 500 development industry professionals were on hand to witness The Village at Wellard receiving the Judges’ Award at the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s WA Awards for Excellence at Burswood last weekend (Saturday 30 August).

The Award, which is presented at the judges’ discretion, recognises outstanding achievement or innovation in a particular aspect of development.

In awarding the honour to The Village at Wellard the judges recognised the innovative community enterprise that Peet and its partners have established in the Ngulla Community Nursery.

Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore said it was a great honour to receive such an accolade for the joint venture project being undertaken with the Western Australian Department of Housing and Works.

“It’s an exciting project, demonstrating how philosophy can translate to reality with very encouraging results. We know we are setting an example for future developments and particularly those in environmentally sensitive areas.”

The Nursery, which was launched in August 2006, provides much-needed plant stock for the growing estate, as well as horticulture, natural resource management education training for local youth and the community.

A key motivation for establishing the community nursery was to grow plants native to the local area and generate training opportunities for local Kwinana youth.

The project is a joint initiative of the Department of Housing and Works and Peet Limited in conjunction with Bridging the Gap, the Medina Aboriginal Cultural Community, Town of Kwinana, and BHP Billiton Nickel West.

It is now producing up to 100,000 native seedlings each year for use both within The Village at Wellard and other projects on a commercial basis.

The Village at Wellard’s commitment to planning and sustainability has already been recognised with seven industry awards including the Planning Institute of Australia’s Award for Excellence in Environmental Planning and Conservation WA, the Housing Industry Association’s GreenSmart: WA Development of the Year and the Landscape Industries Association’s Best Environmental/Rehabilitation/Conservation Project (WA).

The Village at Wellard community continues to grow, with more than 630 lots now sold. It will eventually be home to 2,700 households, living on 320 hectares including 28 hectares of landscaped parks, 17 hectares dedicated to a Bush Forever site and 10 hectares of conservation wetlands.
