School garden blooms with Peet support

Students from Bray Park High School are transforming unused grounds into an organic herb and vegetable garden with the support Peet Limited’s Warner Lakes residential estate.

Peet helped Bray Park High School purchase essential equipment to create the new garden, which is part of the school’s Special Education Program.

Bray Park High School Special Education Teacher Kelly Klibbe said the gardens are operated and maintained by students with special needs, providing education and lifestyle benefits for the young green-thumbs.

“It enables students to gain valuable hands-on experience growing their own food, learning about the science of plants and weather and working as a team to complete a major project,” said Ms Klibbe.

“Peet’s generous donation has provided much needed assistance to help make the project successful and the group has already been working hard to prepare the garden.

“We’ve installed a worm farm and our organic herb garden is growing well. We hope to begin planting soon.”

Peet Limited Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore welcomed the opportunity for Peet to be involved in the project and to support the community surrounding Warner Lakes estate.

“We are pleased to contribute to a project that provides a valuable learning experience for students and also demonstrates environmentally responsible land management,” said Mr Gore.

“We look forward to see the garden grow and the skills of the ‘garden keepers’ develop over time.”

Bray Park High School is located a few minutes drive from Warner Lakes, around which is home to more than 250 households. More residents are expected to join the estate in the coming months, following the launch of several successful land releases this year.
