Peet’s new estate attracts buyers to Cooroy

Peet Limited’s new Greenwood Grove residential estate is drawing homebuyers from the beach to the bush by offering the Noosa lifestyle without the city price-tag.

Managing Director of Peet Limited Brendan Gore said his experienced national property group was developing the new estate in Cooroy for people who wanted access to the beach and a gourmet lifestyle but preferred relaxed, leafy surrounds.

“Located just outside Cooroy’s CBD, and within 15 minutes drive of Noosa, Greenwood Grove will offer 174 exclusive home-sites when complete,” Mr Gore said.

“The location is ideal for buyers who like to stay active and enjoy walking in the hills, fishing or playing golf.”

Australian Property Monitors reports house prices in Cooroy increased by 13% in the past 12 months, out-performing growth in the overall region.

“Whether you are a retiree, family or single, all homebuyers are seeking affordable properties with lifestyle options and good connections to public transport,” Mr Gore added.

“Peet’s Greenwood Grove Estate offers access to rail, plus nine hectares set-aside for parkland and recreational facilities including barbecues, picnic areas and playgrounds.”

Lots at Greenwood Grove range from 600sqm to 1200sqm with prices starting from $210,000.

Environment gets green thumbs from Lakelands community

Residents and the local community are being invited to register to take part in a special community planting day at Peet Limited's award-winning Lakelands Private Estate on Sunday 27 July as part of Planet Ark's National Tree Day.

The tree planting site will be along the Arramall Trail from Ballard Meander Park to Campion Fairway. The Trail follows the same path as the Mandurah Rail Line and the new trees will provide a nature strip between the railway and nearby residential housing.

Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore said "supporting National Tree Day provided a great opportunity for the community to get involved and help achieve lasting benefits for the local environment".

"Environmental protection and sustainability are key parts of the development at Lakelands Private Estate and Peet is pleased to be able to help support this valuable and worthwhile initiative," Mr Gore said.

Participants will get involved with the planting of some 1,250 plants, which when fully grown will create a natural corridor for birdlife and will also help prevent erosion in the area. They will also assist with ground preparation, mulching and weed control.

Tools and equipment for planting will be provided and participants will be treated to a barbecue and refreshments at the end of the day.

Two days earlier, on Friday 25 July, students from local schools including Mandurah Baptist College will take their learning out of the classroom for Schools Tree Day.

The students will gather at Winjan Park to learn about the natural bushland area and gain a better understanding of the significance of the Winjan bushland area as a historical source of food and medicine to the indigenous community.

It will also provide the opportunity for students to get their hands dirty participating in activities that will benefit the community by ensuring the park's protection and restoration of degraded areas. The students will also undertake an ongoing monitoring program of this pocket of bush in Lakelands Private Estate.

Anyone interested in participating in the event are invited to contact Clara Deans at Creating Communities on 9284 0910, or email clara@creatingcommunities.com.au.

Participants in the National Tree Day are encouraged to bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottles and gloves.

Lucky Mandurah couple win at Lattitude Lakelands

Mandurah couple Brian and Lainey Wilkerson admit to being a little stunned to learn they had won the major prize at the official opening of the new display home at Lattitude Lakelands.

The Wilkersons were among more than 150 visitors to the striking new home recently opened at Peet Senior Living’s Lattitude Lakelands which offers interested over-55s a glimpse at the new style of living.

But it was the call to confirm they had won a weekend away at the five-star luxury beachfront resort and spa, Quay West Resort Bunker Bay that proved quite unexpected.

“We thought we would come out to Lattitude Lakelands and see the new home for ourselves but we never expected to win, it has been so exciting,” Mrs Wilkerson said.

“It was such a surprise when we got the phone call to say we had won! It is so lovely.”

Although living nearby, the Wilkersons had come to Lattitude to view the new display home and the features on offer at Lattitude Lakelands.

“We were attracted to the size of the home. We have grandkids who come down and stay with us about once a month, so having the extra room would definitely be a bonus for us,” Mr Wilkerson said.

“It is a lovely spot here, the designs of the homes are very good and we are very interested in the next couple of stages coming up.”

Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore congratulated the Wilkersons on their win and said the opening of the display home had been a great success.

“The new display home at Lattitude Lakelands enables Peet to showcase the new approach the company is taking to over-55s living that offers real lifestyle choices, security and comfort while allowing residents to downsize and be part of a vibrant and active community,” said Mr Gore.

Quattro delivers model of sustainability

Another step forward in sustainable home design was taken today (Monday 16 June), with the official opening of the Quattro Sustainable Home in Queens Park. The Quattro Sustainable Home now provides the people of Perth with a new source of information about creating a more sustainable home.

The home is an important part of Quattro: The New Queens Park, an urban renewal project being undertaken by the Department of Housing and Works, Peet Limited and the City of Canning.

Department of Housing and Works Director General John Coles, who officially opened the home, said he was particularly proud to officially launch a project that embodies all the exciting work the Department and its partners are now doing.

“Quattro will be another excellent example of the Department’s commitment to delivering more affordable housing lots, so more families and first homebuyers can realise their dreams,” Mr Coles said.

“It will also demonstrate how the Department’s urban renewal program can completely transform suburbs and the lives of people who live there.”

Mr Coles said the home demonstrates how sustainable practices can be incorporated into modern building designs in a highly affordable and practical way.

“The project partners are committed to sustainable development and the home is a great resource for people seeking information about what they can do in their own home to have a positive impact on the environment,” Mr Coles said.

Following the official proceedings guests were treated to a healthy lunch and tours of the home. The lunch menu reflected the produce found in the home’s edible garden and was prepared to highlight the benefits of incorporating a productive garden into the family home.

Designed by Solar Dwellings and built by Redink Homes, the Quattro Sustainable Home achieves an impressive 7-star rating for thermal performance.

It features 185sqm of living space including an open plan living area located to the rear, and a multifunctional living space at the front of the home.

Solar Dwellings Director Griff Morris said true passive solar design was a challenge with the Quattro Sustainable Home, given the constraints of the block.

“It is a great demonstration of what can be achieved on a ‘non-ideal’ block,” he said. “Many existing blocks in Perth face the same challenge so it was important for us to show that a naturally comfortable, light and airy home is possible.”

“With a few simple modifications the single story home can be built on any flat, north-east or north-west oriented block with as narrow a frontage as 12.5 metres and will achieve excellent thermal performance for natural heating and cooling.”

Just some of the Home’s key features include:
  • Passive solar design;
  • Energy efficient and natural lighting;
  • Rainwater harvesting and grey water re-use system;
  • Sustainable landscaping;
  • Energy efficient fixtures, fittings and appliances;
  • Universal design for access; and
  • Low allergen, low toxicity and low maintenance materials.
Peet Limited Managing Director Brendan Gore said the project was a great example of what can be achieved through partnerships between the private sector and all levels of government.

“The urban renewal of Queens Park is providing great benefits to the community, and the opening of the Quattro Sustainable Home marks a key milestone in the project,” said Mr Gore.

“This home provides a valuable resource for everyone looking for tips on how to improve the
sustainability of their own home.”

The Quattro Sustainable Home is located at 325 Wharf Street, Queens Park and is now open to the public on Wednesdays from 1pm to 4pm and both Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm. It will also be come the Quattro Sales and Information Centre when sales commence later this year.
